J. Patricio Varas
Patricio Varas has over 30 years experience in the mining industry, during which time he has built an impressive track record in exploration and discovery. He has contributed to the discovery of the Diavik Diamond mine in the NWT, the Santo Domingo Sur Iron Oxide Copper Gold deposit in Chile, and the Milestone Potash deposit in Saskatchewan. During the early part of his career, Pat contributed in the exploration of the Galore Creek Porphyry Copper/Gold deposit and the prominent Brucejack Lake Silver and Gold epithermal deposits in BC.
Pat is a director of Aztec Minerals Corp, a company listed on the TSX-V exchange. He was a founder (and held positions of President and CEO and was a director) of TSX listed Western Potash Corp.
Jon Sherron has more than 20 years of senior management experience and is based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. He serves on the Board of several private and public companies and brings an excellent knowledge of the function of corporate governance. He has been Vice President of EDI Inc. since 2009, an investment company, which has a portfolio of funds. He has worked with many international brands including SABMiller, MolsonCoors, Constellation, Gallo Winery and Diageo. He was Vice President of a leading beverage distributor and sat on the board of directors of the Montana Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association. He has been a Director of Norden Crown since February 28, 2016. Sherron holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Montana State University.
David Reid, LL.B., is a senior partner and Global Co-Chair of Mining with DLA Piper (Canada) LLP with over 30 years of experience in mining and securities law, including over $2 billion in corporate finance and M&A transactions since 2011. Mr. Reid is recognized by Lexpert as a Leading Canadian Lawyer in Global Mining, The Legal 500 Canada (Energy-Mining-Corporate-M&A), and Best Lawyers in Canada in the areas of mining, natural resources law and securities law. David led a team in connection with a transaction awarded Mining Deal of the Year by Canadian Dealmakers in 2012 and has served on the board of several TSX, NYSE and TSXV resource companies, including Far West Mining Ltd. (acquired in 2011 by Capstone Mining Corp. in a $1.1 billion M&A transaction).
Mr. Söderqvist is a mining professional with over 40 years’ of experience in the industry. He started his career in mining at age 18 with the Swedish mining company Boliden as an underground miner. After studies, he continued with Boliden and worked his way up to the position of underground manager. He joined Sandvik and participated actively in Sandvik’s acquisition of Tamrock, which formed a new global equipment company in hard rock mining. During the Sandvik years, he spent five years managing the Canadian operations based out of Sudbury, Ontario. He then managed Sandvik’s mining and construction business in northern, central and eastern Europe for six years and was promoted to Senior Vice President for Sandvik Mining and Construction. Mr. Södervqist re-joined Boliden in 2012 as the General Manager of the Skelleftea field mines, and after four years was promoted to Senior Vice President of Boliden based in Stockholm. When Mr. Soderqvist retired he was acting as Senior Advisor to the CEO of Boliden and was acting General Manager of Boliden’s Tara Mine in Ireland.
